Holland Performing Arts Center – Handel’s Messiah

On Sunday, December 6th at 3:00 p.m. a free holiday concert performance of Handel’s Messiah will be held at the Holland Performing Arts Center. The Voices of Omaha, a 150 member choral group, and the Voices of Omaha Chamber Orchestra will be in concert. Performing Messiah has been an annual tradition for 41 years. If you’ve never been inside the Peter Kiewitt Concert Hall and experienced the acoustics, you should not miss the free event opportunity to experience it. You can hear a pin drop inside the hall. The Holland Performing Arts Center is located at 13th and Douglas Streets in downtown Omaha. Old Market Passageway

Located on the northeast corner of 11th and Howard, is the Old Market Passageway. Like most of the Old Market business district, original buildings from the 1800′s were preserved and renovated into a vibrant, thriving business community. The Passageway is an Omaha icon, and the most well-known spot in the Old Market. It hosts great businesses like V Mertz and Trini’s Mexican Restaurants, as well as White Crane Art Gallery. Orpheum Theater – White Christmas

Located at 409 S. 16th Street, the Orpheum Theater will be hosting Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, with performances November 1st through November 7th. White Christmas is a part of the Omaha Performing Arts “Broadway Series”, and Omaha is the kick-off for the show’s national tour. The musical includes memorable Irving Berlin hits such as “Sisters,” “Blue Skies,” and of course “White Christmas.” Tickets may be purchased online or by telephone. Have a chip in your auto windshield? Don’t ignore it! Chips can be repaired simply and easily with resins and polymers that are available to your mechanic. Have them fixed before they turn into cracks that will necessitate window replacement, and Happy Motoring!

Arts Alive! & Great Nebraska Beer Fest

On Sunday, September 13, Arts Alive! and the first “Great Nebraska Beer Fest” will be held at Shadow Lake Towne Center, just off 72nd Street and Highway 370. The festival is co-sponsored by Nebraska brewers and the Sarpy Arts Council. Interact with the artists, starting at 10:00 a.m. Then, sample some of the nearly 80 different beers from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Tickets to attend the Beer Fest are $25 in advance, or $30 at the door.
