You’ll be surprised by their extensive menu and strong array of domestic, imported and specialty beers. The Dell is a quaint, yet lively, after work or school gathering spot. The Dell now has two private party rooms for rent; supporting party sizes from 6 to 40 people. My wife and I enjoyed this poem prose from the 1939 Dundee Dell menu: “To those who can drink, yet continue to think, And pleasures Deserved glean from each; May their pleasures be many, Their sorrows not any, Life’s happiness always in reach.” Cheers, and Happy Motoring!

The helpful, friendly wait staff immediately recognized I was a first time visitor and directed me past the bar area to the order counter. I ordered the “Haystack Burger” that had been recommended to me former Husker, Dave Rimington. The Haystack was delivered promptly. It is a giant burger on a kaiser bun topped with American cheese, honey smoked ham, and a fried egg over easy. The garnish was fresh and the burger delightfully greasy. I’d been trying to cut back on my calorie consumption and immediately found my brain and my stomach locked in a WrestleMania challenge match. Ultimately my brain “tapped out” and the entire Haystacker was consumed. Dinker’s is a terrific neighborhood bar and grill, and I am already planning my next visit. Dinker’s is open Monday through Saturday from 10:oo a.m. to 1:00 a.m. Happy Motoring!

The diner, having undergone recent renovations, was cozy and clean. I ordered a cheeseburger with bacon and a side of french fries. Even though it was the lunch hour, and the place was packed, the service was prompt and friendly. My meal was a delight. The cheeseburger had a high “Wow” factor. I had to contort my mouth to take a bite. The bun was thicker than I like, and there was no choice of cheeses; otherwise, terrific! The french fries were made from fresh potatoes, just the way my mother used to make them; greasy and great. Our service men and women at Offutt are lucky to have a place like Stella’s so near to the base. Stop in and enjoy… Happy Motoring!

Wishing to confirm this oft repeated urban legend, my friend and I visited the Alpine Inn. We each had a 4 piece chicken dinner with a soft drink. The fryers were full, so we had a brief wait. While we waited, we checked out the well-stocked bar, the pickle card machines, and the dining area in the back of the restaurant, where several tables were neatly aligned adjacent the large “viewing” windows. We did not see the raccoons because they do not show up until after dusk. Nocturnal… Duh! In any event, the chicken was good (but not great) and the servers were friendly. If cleanliness is important to your dining experience, choose another destination. But for a good beer, good chicken, and crude entertainment give Alpine a try. Call (402) 451-9988 for hours and Happy Motoring!

Goldbergs has a large menu. I ordered a cheeseburger with pepper-jack cheese and bacon. It was very good, although there was some rust on the lettuce. The service I received was average (not engaging); but perhaps that was because I was dining alone. My wife really enjoys the BLT salad from Goldbergs, and so do I. There was a large and raucous crowd dining at Goldbergs when I visited, and everyone seemed to be having a great time. Despite the service disappointment, the food is quite good and I will visit again. Give it a try and Happy Motoring!
