Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge

IMG_0737The Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge is a 3,000 foot long landmark bridge spanning the Missouri River, between Omaha, Nebraska and Council Bluffs, Iowa. The bridge supports pedestrian and bicycle traffic only, and is first such bridge to connect two states.  The bridge is supported by two 200 foot towers, and is suspended approximately 55 feet above the water. Joggers, walkers, and bikers can enjoy the scenic natural beauty of the “Muddy Mo” River basin. There is parking on the Omaha side, near the entrance ramp to the bridge which is located at 705 Riverfront Drive, near Gallup University. Look for the big blue “Omaha” globe shown in the photo. The bridge is lighted at night, is free and open 24 hours a day.  Happy Motoring and Happy Walking!!

Lewis & Clark Landing

September 8th, 2009 No comments

On Riverfront Drive in downtown Omaha (North of ConAgra Headquarters) is the Lewis & Clark Landing. This Saturday, September 12th, concludes the “Playing With Fire” free outdoor concert series. Music starts at 4:30 p.m. Make sure your car’s washer fluid levels are full. I recommend premixed ready-to-use antifreeze/cleaner which is typically good to -20 degrees. Happy Motoring!

Southport West Development

September 6th, 2009 No comments

In Sarpy County, just off the I-80 & Harrison Street exit, is an amazing business park you will want to check out. Cabela’s, Courtyard by Marriott, the La Vista Conference Center and Embassy Suites share the complex along with a new 3 story office building under construction that will house a Mutual of Omaha bank location and other tenants. Keep your tires properly inflated. It will keep you safe and reduce your fuel costs. Happy motoring!
